Delivery orders and pantry storege

Do the customers that order delivery know what dish is still available while ordering and consider this in their decision, similarly to the in-restaurant groups that have this information through the waitstaff? Or do they try to order meal for which the restaurant doesnt have the ingredients anymore? If they try and fail, do they try again or do they give up ordering?

Yes, they can only place orders for dishes for which there are enough ingredients available in the pantry.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’m finding this to be contradicting a previous reply where it seems like for delivery, dishes that cannot be cooked can be placed in an order but the order will be rejected.

Hi,
maybe my answer was not clear enough, sorry for that.

so the delivery groups can order dishes only when they can be cooked (same as the seated customer in the restaurant). Basically dishes that have ingredients available and also cook type that can cook that dish, otherwise order is not placed.

Hopefully this makes it clearer.

Hello,

Follow up question to this - for dineIn customers if a dish isnt available the customer tries to order the next preferred dish until either a successful order is placed or there is no suitable dish remaining and the customer leaves, as per post: https://forum.se.cs.uni-saarland.de:51443/t/dish-order-logic/102

2 questions here:

  1. Does this behavior extend to a delivery customer group as well, i.e. customer keeps trying to order the next best dish? Or would we check if the customer can order the most preferred dish, and if not possible we do not accept the specific customer’s dish order? I assume it is the latter because the delivery customer doesn’t have access to a waiter?
  2. Is partial ordering possible for deliveries, i.e. if the restaurant can cook the dish for 5 group members but not for 2 others, will the partial order be taken? Or will the entire order be rejected?

Thanks in advance!

A clarification addressing some of the questions raised in this thread has now been published here:

I hope this provides some additional context. Please also note that this supersedes what has been mentioned in previous replies.
