in the aggregation between Class and Board in the UML in the solution, it shows that the multiplicity for Board is 0..1; however, in class there is no ? next to whiteboard: Board. Is this correct? or should it be strictly 1?

you are correct, the correct solution would be just 1.
In case there would be a ? then 0..1 is correct.
