the specification states:
Every regular group creates a rating for every visit to promote their restaurant. After two consecutive failed attempts, which are either failed reservations, failures to be seated by the waitstaff or the whole group leaving the restaurant because no one was served food, they do not visit a restaurant again.
Do I understand it right that a “failed attempt” is not exactly the same as a negative experience which results in a negative rating, but a slightly different concept from ratings?
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
It basically means that if the regular groups are not able to get seated/order/served or any bad experience for the FULL and they gave negative rating to a restaurant for 2 consecutive visits then this group never visit any restaurant anymore and they disappear from the simulation. So it is actually the same as bad experiences but for FULL GROUP that results in a negative ratings.

Maybe I’m overlooking smth, if thats the case I’d be happy to get the page, but why isn’t the negative experience as a failed attempt requirement stated anywhere, I was assuming because of “the whole group”
the whole group leaving the restaurant because no one was served food
that it doesn’t count into a failed attempt if only a subgroup leaves. But this would lead into a negative expirence, (as well as beeing served late, which isn’t stated at all in the requirements for a failed attempt at all), and therefore after your words into a failed attempt.
If this is true, I would suggest to write it atleast into the specification adjustments.
Hi,
Sorry for unclear explanation but what you mentioned is actually the case and it is for a full group which i missed to mention in last reply but yes the failing attempt is when FULL group leaves that they ALL leave cuz ALL were not seated/served/etc…

So for clarification: Negative Experience doesn’t always lead to a failed attemp
yes, what you said is true

Are you sure about that?
Our implementation was initially based on what is literally written there (a failed attempt is not identical to a negative experience). Then we changed it based on your comment (so that a failed attempt is identical to a negative experience), and now we will probably have to change it back to our original version.
Could you please check what the definitive and final answer to this question is?
The fact that the defining sentence comes directly after the sentence about negative experiences does somewhat imply that they are the same thing, but the literal definition of a failed attempt is definitely not identical to that of a negative experience.

Hi,
i edited my first answer by simply adding the words in capital letters and that was missing in the first place. So as a final answer when a group has a bad experience but for the full group and not partially then this leads to negative rating and also it goes to the failed attempts count.

Thanks for your answer.
I still find in hard to tell in which case if the defining sentence applies.
”After two consecutive failed attempts, which are either failed reservations, failures to be seated by the waitstaff or the whole group leaving the restaurant because no one was served food, they do not visit a restaurant again.”
Obvious failed attempts are:
- couldn’t be seated because no waiter
- nobody could order fitting dish, all customers of group leave
- all customers leave because waiting too long
Ambiguous cases:
- group was sent away in seating retry tick because last third-to-last opening tick (seating didn’t really fail but also they could not be seated)
- seated group is thrown out during closing time, no one got their food yet (probably failed attempt?)
- sitting group is thrown out during closing time, at least one customer got their food but not all of them (probably no failed attempt?)
- same cases as two above but with eaten instead of served?
When is it saved as not a failed attempt? For me the definition implies, that it is a “successful” attempt as soon as at least one customer got served their food no matter what happens.

I would also still be interested in these additional cases.
Another somewhat ambiguous one to me is the following:
We try to seat regular (and casual) groups a second time in the tick after their visitingTick, if it was not possible to seat them immediately. Does the first attempt already count as a failed attempt or is it only counted if the group cannot be seated with the second attempt?
I am pretty sure getting seating with the second try does not create a failed attempt/negative experience.
afaik they don’t even try seating a second time, only assigning a waiter?
In case no table is free or eligible, the customers are sent away and the waiter does not register this as a SEATING action.
