Waiter assignment

Hello,

For the waiter assignment, the first rule on page 14 line 1 states:

To assign a free waiter, the manager only considers those with a SEATING tick load below the limit who won’t exceed it with the new group’s size.

This obviously selects a set of candidate waiters.

Now rule 2 on page 14 line 3:

The first candidate pool the manager selects from is ALL waiters with a current load below 10, as they do not have much to do yet.

what do all waiters mean here - all waiters overall or all waiters from the selected candidates based on the first rule?

Thanks in advance!

Edit 1: does the answer apply to the third rule as well? it also has the ALL waiters ambiguity

Hi,

“All waiters” means all waiters remaining after applying the first rule. So:

  • First filter by sufficient remaining SEATING capacity.

  • Then select among those with current load below 10.

  • If none exist, the third rule considers all candidates from the first filter.

Yes, this also applies to the third rule.

Best,
Aiman
